Sebei-Xining-Lanzhou Pipeline The Sebei-Xining-Lanzhou Gas Pipeline is one of the major projects of PetroChina. On 17 October 2001, the construction of the Sebei-Xining-Lanzhou Gas Pipeline, with its starting point in Sebei, Qinghai Province, has been completed. The Sebei-Xining-Lanzhou Gas Pipeline transmits natural gas from gas-rich Sebei in Qinghai Province to the Xining and Lanzhou areas. The pipeline is not only the longest gas pipeline currently operating in China but also runs at the highest altitude of any gas pipeline in China. The 660 mm-diameter pipeline extends over 930 kilometers with a designed annual capacity of 2 billion cubic meters.
Parallel Sebei-Xining-Lanzhou Pipeline The Parallel Sebei-Xining-Lanzhou Pipeline is the third-largest long-distance gas pipeline after the West-East and Shaan-Jing gas pipelines, supplying natural gas mainly to Qinghai, Gansu and Ningxia. Due to the rapidly growing demand of downstream consumers, its capacity urgently requires expansion. In September 2008, construction started of the Parallel Sebei-Xining-Lanzhou Pipeline. The pipeline is 912 kilometers long, with a designed annual capacity of 3.3 billion cubic meters. On November 25, 2009, the Sebei-Xining section started operations. After completion of the whole line, Sebei-Xining-Lanzhou pipeline, together with its parallel pipeline, will deliver more than 6 billion cubic meters of natural gas every year.
